We are happy to publish this long-form editorial, which serves as a more polemical companion piece to our State Unionism in the U.S. position paper and Draft Shop Unit Guide. This article, which can be accessed here, analyzes the opportunist role the largest “left-wing” organization in our country, the Democratic Socialists of America, plays in the US labor movement. It attempts to explain the “why” and “how” of DSA’s material participation in the labor movement and state unions, and illustrates the reality of their labor policy as a key part of supporting the imperialist state in suppressing class struggle and ensuring the maintenance of “social peace” between the working-class and the capitalists who exploit them.
